A Borrowed Description

I am reading "The Shack" and found the most eloquent and succinct way of describing even my own emotions:

"The Great Sadness had draped itself around [my] shoulders like some invisible but almost tangibly heavy quilt. The weight of it's presence dulled [my] eyes and stooped [my] shoulders. Even [my] efforts to shake it off were exhausting, as if arms were sewn into its bleak folds of despair and [I] had somehow become a part of it. [I] ate, worked, loved, dreamed, and played in this garment of heaviness, weighed down as if [I] was wearing a leaden bathrobe - trudging daily through the murky despondency that sucked the color out of everything."

Sounds awful... I know, but it struck a cord.
